Studio recordings completed

Hello everybody who followed our recording marathon last week. We finished our sessions on Sunday night at 00:30, stuffed our cars with our gear and drove back to Luxembourg.

To sum the last week up: we spend up to 16 hours of recording everyday, tried a lot of new sounds, developed a bunch of new ideas, had a lot of fun eating and drinking together, got to know each other better and made us a week to remember. A very special thank you goes to Sam Wirtz, who worked like a lunatic to prevail against technology and who made us grow to our maximum.

We hope you had fun following us creating the backbone of our new album. However, we are not there yet. We will start recording the backing vocals and other things soon. We will also record cello and strings in the next couple of weeks. We will update this blog as soon as we have something new to show you. So, we will stay in touch. Thank you all and we will get to you soon.

Getting more things done ...

Recording vocals for "A to E" pt2

Recording vocals for "A to E" pt1

Daniel is in a very good flow. He is doing 6-7 vocal tracks today.

No lazy Sunday!

Daniel has started recording the vocals. As Sam likes the room and the tasty microphones, they are trying to record as many tracks as possible.
In the meantime everybody is hungry...

Day 7

Sam is desperately trying to keep track of cables, convert files, import sessions, keep the computers running, ... while some of us are sleeping or practicing Rockstar/the "Dude" aka Big Lebowsky poses.

Blogging 2

James and Lento are enjoying the night outside and are trying to post some new posts to this blog.

Bass recording is finished

While Daniel "Ball-Taser" is making fun of his band, Lento finishes his bass tracks.

Taking a nap

Sometimes it is boring...

"Accidentally" and "Outside" completed

While Lento was having fun updating our blog the last couple of hours, James and Daniel recorded the guitars for "Accidentally" and "Outside". Currently we are working on "I fell down". Right now, we are trying to stop Lento from having funny ideas by forcing him to record the bass for the song.

Weekend in the studio...

Daniel is getting drunk, so Sam is trying to get a hold of the big picture.

James, "de Boy"

...doing his thing.

Recording "Accidentally"

Pimping the bass for that deep old school sound.
Today we are working on "Accidentally", a song we never rehearsed before. It is kind of a puzzle game, putting all the pieces together. Let's hope we don't get lost.

James and Sam are working hard to catch the right sound on disk.

Day 6

Day starts with a decent breakfast.

Recording "Surprised" - bass

Recording picture from earlier today.

Catering

Although we are alone at the studio for the rest of the week, Gérard, the Chef has provided us with some goodies: lamb chops & "Schupfnudeln"

For the dearly missed...

Some private joke, sorry...

Hm...

Bass for "Surprised" is done! Sam has been zwirbling some great sounds! So what about a drink?

Mich has left the building

Mich, "the Moozeman" has left the studio due to other commitments. We sincerely hope he did not get lost on his way...

Meat meeting

Our Chef de cuisine Gérard prepared some excellent steaks from Argentina for us this afternoon. So bad that he will not be around for the weekend. But he left us with a well filled fridge.

Blogging...

Recording "Surprised"

James is recording guitars for "Surprised".

Day 5

Today we started a little bit later because we had a long night session yesterday. We are progressing much better since we switched over to record on Sam's Protools. This morning we finished "A to E" and started to record "Surprised". Now we are getting somewhere. Unfortunately Mich had to leave us this morning. No more kicker playing...

"Ocean" completed

We just completed the recordings for the song "Ocean". Gilles has spent the last couple of hours to find the adequate sound for this up-beat song. But it was worth the effort.

Recording "Ocean"

After James recorded his guitars, he decided to take a break. Right now Daniel is recording his guitars.

New day, new recording setup

After some trouble, we decided to use Sam's own ProTools system for the rest of the session. So he got up early bought a couple of new hard disks.
We hope we can progress faster today.

James talking to the Chef

Today we had a very good "Hühnerfrikassé" cooked by Gérard, our french Chef de cuisine. To finish up, we had a wonderful Dame Blanche with wipped cream.

New single "Lock" is available on iTunes

Our new single "Lock" is now available on iTunes! (no DRM!!!!) Click here.

Véro is leaving

Unfortunately Véro had to leave us because she has other photographic commitments the next days. So we will have to takw the pictures ourselves. However, she left us some great shots that we will upload one after another over the next few days.

End of Day 3

We had a very long day. Over 16 hours of recording and fixing gear that doesn't even belong to us. However, it was a fruitfull day. Mich recorded the piano for 3 tracks and we finished recording all instruments for the song "Samba" (working title).

Switching tasks...

We had some bad luck with a compressor today. Sam tried to fix it but it would have taken too much time. So we improvised.

Starting with the guitars...

Here are some pictures of James playing along to the song "Samba" (working title).

...between the tracks

Mich recording the piano

This morning the piano tuner popped in and tuned the Steinway. The rest of the morning, Mich recorded the piano for the songs "I fell down", "Accidently" and a song that doesn't have a name yet.
